THE COMPETITION

Brilliant Talent Discovery Awards International Music Competition is open to participants of all nationalities and ages in the following disciplines:

INDIVIDUAL

  • Piano

  • Violin

  • Viola

  • Cello 

  • Double bass

  • Recorder

  • Flute

  • Oboe

  • Clarinet

  • Bassoon

  • Saxophone

  • French horn

  • Trumpet
  • Trombone

  • Tuba

  • Percussion (Drums)

  • Harp

  • Bandoneon/Accordeon

  • Guitar

  • Pipa ( 琵琶 )

  • Erhu ( 二胡 )

  • Female voice

  • Male voice

PIANO DUO

  • Piano duo

  • Piano four-hands

CHAMBER MUSIC

  • Mixed ensembles (duos, trios, quartets)

CATEGORIES

The competition is divided into sections and categories;

Each section has its relevant age categories and participants are required to observe the time limits of the recording relevant to their category.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES

 

  • Incomplete applications (including failure to pay the application fee) will not be processed

  • Application fee is not refundable

  • Jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed. However, a comprehensive commentary about performance from the jury panel can be provided upon request (in English language only)

  • Multiple winners can be chosen in each of the groups (except Brilliant Award)

 

 

VIDEO MATERIAL

 

Participants are required to submit video recording materials for the participation. Recording should be a fair representation of the contestants' abilities but does not need to be of a professional quality.

 

Participant must submit either one, two or three video recordings. The repertoire choice is free, however, it has to be within time limits indicated for each category. It can be shorter but should not be significantly longer as stated for each category.

  • 3rd prize  | Bronze award

 

  • Best Baroque Award

  • Best Classical Award

  • Best Romantic Award

  • Best Contemporary Award

  • Special Award for Teachers

 

 

A selected group of winners will receive an invitation to perform at the Gala Concert in the iconic Esplanade Theatres Singapore on 13th April 2020.

 

If for any reason you are unable to attend and perform at the Awards Ceremony we will send the original certificate by registered post to the address indicated in the initial application.

 

All participants who were not been selected for a Gala Concert will receive the original participation certificate by post. Invited winners that are not able to attend and perform (for any reason) will receive the original participation certificate by post.

 

 

JUDGES

A panel of judges evaluates the video material submitted, and the final selections of winners are based on the same recordings submitted. The panel consists of internationally recognized artists and professors of various music academies and conservatories. 

 

 

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for the competition participants must submit

 

  • A completed online application form

  • A video recording uploaded online (preferably on YouTube)

  • Resume / CV / Biography (optional)

  • Application fee

 

Please note that the participant retains 100% of the recording rights.

 

APPLICATION DEADLINES

 

  • Last day for submitting applications is on 1st January 2020

  • Winners will be announced on our website on 15th February 2020

WINNERS' GALA CONCERT RULES

 

  • Brilliant Talent Discovery Awards reserves the right to make any changes in the rules, schedule and other information related to the award

  • Children under 18 years old shall be under the responsibility of their parents or legal guardians. They must be supervised at all times by their parents or legal guardians.

  • The competition is not responsible for any damage or theft of instruments or personal belongings of participants.

  • Participants agree and authorize the organizers of the concert to use winner's image for any publicity and activity related to the event.

  • Participants are required to provide a high-resolution photo for the publicity purposes

  • During the Gala Concert, participants waive all rights to television broadcasting remuneration. There will be no financial remuneration for their performance.

  • All participants are responsible for their own expenses (travel, accommodations etc)
